Planning CRM for the Holiday? Cyber Monday isn’t the top sales day.

NOTE: This post is old, and is probably on different subject matter than my current writing. It is possible the information is outdated or my opinions have changed. -- Josh Klein, May 28, 2012

If you’re planning email CRM for the 2010 holiday season, take note; “Cyber Monday” isn’t the day people spend the most money online.

(As background, CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. It’s also shorthand for the direct ad campaigns you send your database of these customers via email, newsletters, or snail mail.)

Top Retail Sales Days 2009 (comScore)

The comScore 2009 U.S. Digital Year in Review reported that last year:

The heaviest individual spending day of the year was Tuesday, December 15 with $913 million in spending, the first day on record to eclipse the $900 million spending threshold. Cyber Monday (Nov. 30, 2009) was the second heaviest spending day with $887 million, followed by December 1 with $886 million and December 16 with $874 million.

Time your campaign accordingly.
